Anonymous Donor Makes Additional $250,000 to Establish the Rev. Thomas J. O’Hara Scholarship Fund During Event

King’s College today announced that it raised more than $300,000 in support of student success from the Red & Gold Gala held April 18, 2026, at Mohegan Pennsylvania.

In addition to the money raised, an anonymous donor made a pledge of $250,000 to establish the Rev. Thomas J. O’Hara Scholarship in honor of former president Rev. Thomas O’Hara, C.S.C., Ph.D. ’71, who received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award that evening.

The event also celebrated James F. Getz ’69, who serves as Chairman Emeritus of TriState Capital Bank and has spent over 50 years working in the banking and financial services industry. Getz received the Presidential Philanthropy Award. Joyce Insurance Group, which is now part of Risk Strategies and serves thousands of clients throughout Northeast Pennsylvania, received the Presidential Organizational Excellence Award.

The annual gala serves as the College’s signature fundraising event. Proceeds benefit the KC Fund, a critical resource that supports enhancements to student success, academic support, faculty development, community outreach, and scholarships. The KC Fund is a pivotal part of the College’s strategic plan.

Nearly 450 alumni, students, employees, and esteemed guests enjoyed raffle and silent auction prizes, dinner, awards ceremony, and dancing.

“Once again, the excitement surrounding King’s College was on full display as we celebrated the people and organizations who make King’s great,” said Greg Morgan, vice president for institutional advancement. “Our community’s ability to raise over $300,000 in charitable support to the KC Fund is simply incredible. This philanthropy provides the College with resources to advance its mission, exemplified through the quality of students whose lives are shaped on campus every day.”

“The Red & Gold Gala once again demonstrated the incredible strength and generosity of the King’s community,” said Rev. Thomas P. Looney, C.S.C., Ph.D., president of the College. “The philanthropic support raised through this event, along with the establishment of the Rev. Thomas J. O’Hara Scholarship, will have a lasting impact on the lives of our students and the future of the College.”
